Last week, New York Governor David Paterson announced he would soon begin to grant pardons to criminal aliens to help them avoid deportation. The highly unusual move places Governor Patterson at odds with the Obama administration, which has focused its removal efforts solely on criminal aliens. Ironically, Paterson announced the new policy during his speech at Law Day at the New York Court of Appeals. (See Law Day Transcript, May 3, 2010).
To execute his new policy, Governor Paterson is establishing a Special Immigration Pardoning Board, consisting of five members, to review individual cases over several weeks. Paterson’s office expects an influx of hundreds of new pardon applications by the end of the year. (Associated Press, May 3, 2010).
Governor Paterson said he was moved to grant pardons after having pardoned a Chinese immigrant for a series of muggings committed as a teenager. Nevertheless, Paterson insisted that his office was “separating these cases from ones where there are egregious crimes.” (The New York Times, May 3, 2010). With respect to public safety, Paterson said, “[T]o be sure, there are some individuals whose crimes are egregious or who pose a threat to public safety….But there are others in which delineation is far less clear. In those cases, our national immigration laws do not permit for any redress or mitigating circumstances. But in New York, we think differently. In New York, we believe in renewal.” (See Law Day Transcript, May 3, 2010).
Open borders advocates hailed Governor Paterson’s decision, but immigration enforcement proponents criticized the move. “There are people out there, maybe the governor included, who don’t want to deport anybody, even people who have committed crimes,” said Jan Ting, a professor at Temple University Law School, and a former assistant immigration commissioner. “I understand the impulse, but it’s an impulse that leads to open borders.” (The New York Times, May 3, 2010).

This is how drug/vaccine makers do their business; dark and dirty. But they claim complete innocence through it all. It is how the game is played. The ones to suffer are the consuming public and our children.
When a drug company makes $4.87 billion ($4,870,000,000), from a single drug in a year, a $520 million settlement is but a slap on the wrist, and all in a day's work. They most likely pay about as much for printer paper and paperclips in a year.
But what is still curious to me, is though U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said, "These were not victimless crimes - illegal acts by pharmaceutical companies and false claims against Medicare and Medicaid can put the public health at risk, corrupt medical decisions by health care providers, and take billions of dollars directly out of taxpayers' pockets," no particular victims or tax payers received any compensation from the settlement.
Instead, Under the settlement, the federal government will get $301.9 million, while state Medicaid programs and the District of Columbia will get up to $218.1 million under the civil judgment. We should all be joyous that Big Pharma's bed partner, the federal government, will get the bulk of the settlement (nice shell game guys), and the state Medicaid programs will get the rest. Government-funded Medicaid programs, of course, require that physicians provide for their patients, insurance company-policed, Standard of Care, that has been determined by a pharma-dominated national medical "team", which ultimately boils down to a pharmaceutical pill for virtually every ill (a more elaborate version of the shell game).
This whole scenario is not unlike the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program where victims are compensated for vaccine damages from a government kitty that is subsidized by a surcharge that is paid by the consumer on every vaccine. The consuming public then, is paying themselves from their own bank account for their death and destruction at the hands of the vaccine-makers, so that the vaccine makers are not financially burdened with the monetary loss that paying for the results of their own destructive products would cause. Nice.
It is time for the people to go after the wallet of Big Pharma. Until they do, it will be business-as-usual for the Big Pharma CEO's in their untouchable ivory towers. As long as pHARMa has the unlimited funds, and the power that goes with it, to continue to wine and dine your doctor, and bend your congressmen, don't expect to see much in the way of change.

On April 19, writer Al Kammerer informed readers that “anti-government activists oppose government spending by exaggerating our relatively low taxes…”
According to the White House budget in 2009 the federal government took $1.892 trillion dollars in the form Income Tax, Social Security Insurance and Retirement, Excise Tax, and Estate and Gift Tax from Americans. The CIA World Fact Book shows that only 8 of 193 countries in the world had sufficient wealth in Gross Domestic Product to pay this amount of taxes.
In 2009 government spent $3.5 trillion dollars. The Fact Book shows that only 3 nations possessed sufficient wealth (GDP) to make that large of a payout.
The President and Congress have driven up our national debt to $12.83 trillion dollars. According to the White House, the President and Congress have committed us to an additional $9.70 trillion dollars of debt. According to the Trustees of the Social Security and Medicare these programs have an unfunded liability of $107.00 trillion dollars.
Our real debt, then, is $129.53 trillion dollars. Government can not create wealth; it can only take it from the taxpayers. It amounts to $409,094 debt for every American.
It is neither fair nor Christian to burden our children and grandchildren with such massive debt. Government is destroying the American dream for generations to come.

PUBLISHER'S NOTE: Regarding my essay, Army Preps for Tea Party 'Terrorists', I was contacted by senior command staff at Ft. Knox this afternoon. There was a security exercise at Ft. Knox this week, but an officer in the security loop altered the scenario "in order to make it more realistic." Those alterations were described in my essay, exactly as they appeared. The command staff informed me that the alterations were not approved at the command level and that the individual who circulated the scenario through official channels will "receive appropriate counsel." I was assured that the Command staff would not have authorized such a scenario.
