Medicaid
The Medicaid portion will force states to expand Medicaid. A system the states have a problem funding now...but Washington don't care and those that support this bill will see their state sales tax and other state taxes skyrocket.
Medicare
Mayo Clinic today stopped accepting Medicare clients in Arizona. 3,000 clients will either have to pay cash or look elsewhere. They say the payments cover only 1/2 of the cost. Last year they lost 840 million on Medicare patients and will be examining further cuts. In addition to the statistics quoted below when examining the rejection rate on claims of the 8 largest insurers from 3/1/07 to 3/10/08 the rate was 2.6%. Medicare's during that same period was 6.85%.
Summary
More Medicaid patients will fall into the uninsured category and have to pay cash or forget health care.
Of course cutting Medicare by 500 billion will further amplify these statistical rejections resulting in more uninsured and senior deaths will spike upwards.
All of this is in addition to the forecast (the numbers continue to change) 10-20 million that will be omitted under the current plans of this semi-universal (Well...it isn't covering everyone) of the Health Care Deform bill.
Ah...wouldn't it be nice if we had Washington pass a single payer system administered by them and...rejected by all health care providers. The we could forget them and develop something logical with quality and cost effective all items Washington doesn't have a clue about.
